Vision Weekend 2012:

The event will be held April 13th through 15th. It begins on Friday when our chartered bus travels from one end of the state to the other; picking up our blind and visually impaired participants at predetermined bus stops. By early afternoon we arrive at the hotel and get our guests checked in and acclimated to their rooms. This is the first time many of our participants have seen each other since the previous year and they love to visit and chat with each other. Later that evening we have dinner together . After dinner we hold the annual cribbage tournament and musical entertainment is provided. The participants love to play cards and visit until late into the night. This is a wonderful social event for everyone.

On Saturday morning we have breakfast together and then offer multiple activities including bowling, shopping and bingo. We also have additional activities , this year we will take a tour of the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH . In past years we have toured the Budweiser Plant in Merrimack or the Audubon Society in Concord and Texas Hold ‘em lessons in Salem. On Saturday evening we have a banquet to celebrate the wonderful weekend and have trophies for the best bowlers and cribbage players, and a DJ for dancing.

On Sunday morning we have breakfast together and then the bus driver takes everyone home.

The average cost per person is $300 which includes bus transportation, two hotel nights, two breakfasts, two dinners, one lunch, bowling, snacks for the bus and goody bags for each participant.

For most of our participants this is the social event of their year. They sign up year after year to keep in touch with their friends and enjoy this wonderful opportunity. I cannot express in words how much our participants enjoy and appreciate this weekend and I cannot express in words how rewarding it is to participate as a Lion. I know each year we have made a difference in another person’s life.

With increased donations the Lions can offer this recreational weekend
to many more blind and visually impaired people throughout
New Hampshire. We hope you can help us.
